A Medical Review Officer (MRO) is a licenced physician who is responsible for receiving and reviewing laboratory results and evaluating medical explanations for certain drug test results. MRO’s are independent and impartial and advocate for the accuracy and integrity of the drug testing process.
The Medical Review Officer, or MRO, plays a decisive and critical role in the occupational testing process at SureHire. When a donor’s drug test result is positive, the MRO’s expertise provides an independent examination of results. Their investigative process includes adhering to personal information protection laws and the Health Information Act, and communicating directly with the donor. They draw on medical experience to determine the reason for a positive test result, and confirm whether an individual is fit to contribute to a safe work environment.
With no MRO governing body in Canada, all of SureHire’s MROs are trained and certified in the U.S. through the American Association of Medical Review Officers or Medical Review Officer Certification Council.
If you have any questions about the MRO’s role or process, please contact SureHire at 1-866-944-4473 or visit our Contact page.
